This will be a wrap-up of day 1.
The ship left on time (4 PM) and the charter company gave me a free lanyard along with a bunch of other gifts:
The second to last item pictured is a mat – most useful for not sitting on the bare grass during the KC and the Sunshine Band concert. I’ll discuss that concert more later.
They did give us more written instructions on this concert. We didn’t have any reserved seats as a group. This surprised me. But with early access to the amphitheater just for us, it wasn’t an issue for me to get a seat. Good thing, because that mat was smelly.
In the evening was the Taylor Dayne concert in the main theater. I was looking forward to this.
Here are some scattered notes on the experience:
- I thought she was quite good overall
- The third song she played was “Don’t Rush Me’, my favorite song from her
- She went into the crowd to sing one of her songs
- The concert was short – only an hour and three minutes
- The theater was close to full
- Some left early – I don’t know why
Taylor Dayne performed twice this evening. I saw the second concert on the live feed in my cabin. It was mostly the same Taylor, but… She skipped a song (“Heart of Stone”)! That made this second concert only 58 minutes. I felt sorry for those that saw the second show – even if they didn’t care for that particular song.
I went to the Celebrity’s buffet at the Oceanview Cafe between shows. It was up to my expectations for Celebrity with a good selection and good quality food. This would be equally true for all dinners I had there. For a little bit more on that story, watch this video:
My next post will cover the Key West experience – including the KC and the Sunshine Band concert.
